FINISH STRONG!

It’s I write this I am sitting on a paint bucket, under a palapa, at a skate park, with surf boards above my head, sleeping in tents, no running water, hot, beautiful, hard, rewarding, challenging, stretching, pursuing, ABIDING, ENCOURAGING, LOVE ENCOUNTERS.
We are currently in Pescadaro, Baja California Sur. Yesterday we went put to the beach and handed out free Popsicles and offered prayer to anyone who wanted. Not gonna lie going up to random strangers and offering them Popsicles was a little on the awkward side. Conversations went like this… ” hey would you like a Popsicle ..(awkward silence, weird faces) they are free.. free??? Why ? What are y’all doing? Well we are a group of Christians walking around handing out Popsicles and praying for people. Would you like one? Yeah or some would say no.” And when we would ask if they wanted prayer..their responses varied from “no I’m good.. Too I think my relatioship with God is personal and I pray so thank you… Too YES that would be great”. I can say walking away from the whole experience it was challenging, humbling, stretching, but fun on top of all of that.
For those of you who don’t know we just got off of our R&R time less than a 2weeks ago. Our fearless leaders Steph and Omar came down to hangout with us. We were supposed to be camping during this time but got blessed with a hotel and hot showers and wifi !! WOOT! After R&R we left and headed to Scorpion Bay where we camped and talked with a lot of the surfers there. My first thought here was great I am not going to be doing much ministry considering all the surfers are in the water and I don’t surf … Lol but God changed that .. This week I have been in awe with the people that we have met .. They have just been themselves 100% which is so cool even after finding out with love Jesus. And I have also been amazed with the power of prayer. Like one morning I was talking to a group of people who were having breakfast and we talked about what it was exactly we were doing and before they left I felt the urge to offer to pray over their travels. (In moments like this one, there are 2 outcomes, 1. Yes or 2. They reject it and you) They were beyond excited to have me pray over their travels. Honestly not that great of a prayer but when I had finished they were beyond blessed and all smiles. They hugged my friend Anna and I and then left. PAUSE… GOD IS GOOD steps of obedience are so cool.
Something even cooler than that is today we broke into groups and each group was given a 100pesos to pray about and bless people. So stinkin cool!!! We had the awesome privilege of buying 3 people coffee, I wish I could have captured their faces when we offered to buy their drinks. So confused but said yes 🙂 I could have done that all day 🙂 God is good.
We are on the last leg of our journey and head out to Cabo San Lucas in the morning. I believe we are partnered with a church there. This is our second to last stop before we start our journey back north to Ensenada. We will be here 7 days and then on to Loreto for 3days. Please continue to pray for my team and I as we are all tired but really wanna seek what The Lord has for us in the next 11days of outreach. Ahh I just typed 11 days so stinkin crazy!!!!!!!! 20 days and I will be back in Texas. It’s been one crazy , stretching, challenging, encouraging journey that The Lord has brought me on. Below is a few of the pictures of where we are and where we have been.

CHALLENGING

Okay so we have wrapped up a total of 4 stops now! Stop number 4 was San Ignacio, this stop by far has been my favorite. We stayed at a missionaries house, whose names are George and Linda. Oh man we they are so stinkin cool. They had a set of dorm style rooms that they so graciously opened up for us. This stop we really had no agenda … Which meant evangelism time!!!! We went out and just talked with people and prayed with them as well. Here we also did a lot of work on the church by prepping and painting the entire outside of the church, as well as painting the little kitchen in the back.
But the best part of this week was all the time that we got to spend with the youth and young adults of the church! I made a friend…. Let that sink in for a minute.. Okay now that I have y’all laughing. I really did make a friend her name is Anaid, she is awesome young woman who spoke very little English but we still managed to communicate all week long 🙂 she carries so much joy and life. This week also carried a lot of tears as well .. I didn’t escape the stomach plague of Viscanio and honestly I hate being sick and not being able to do work. But I know my body well enough to know that I needed to rest and that I did. The tears weren’t just from being sick but also from missing home. I find that this part of the journey has by far been the hardest since I have arrived in Mexico. Okay sad moment over…. We got to see a really cool spot at a Laguna where there are a ton of fossils. As the week came to a close I realized that I am really going to miss the people as well as the town. In this week the biggest thing that The Lord was teaching me is that since DTS I have been abiding with Him more and more and so I require way more time and filling up with Him then I used to. Which is growth I. My walk with Jesus!! Speaking of Jesus, I was reading a boom this past week that talked about how as Christians we have a tendency to advertise Christianity rather than bringing them to a real relationship with the Loving father ! So my challenge for myself as well as y’all is are we speaking of Jesus, are we presenting an opportunity for people to have a love encounter with HIM??!!
Stop number 5 Santa Rosalia/San Lucas. This stop has been longggg… We have been to /run a total of 8 services in 7 days. One of those services included a funeral that we were asked to attend. Weirdest thing I have been a part of. We didn’t even know the lady, but it’s apparently normal in the Mexico to invite random missionaries to funerals… Hahah yes everyone I am being serious. SO WEIRD! Biggest thing that The Lord is teaching me here is to stay checked in. My mom says this is the part that I am really good at but honestly I don’t feel that good but in that God has also been teaching me that I am kinda on the back burner as far like leading goes. Which for this who know me know that this might be a little challenging because I naturally am a leader. But it’s been kinda nice to help others grow because in that I am growing as well. We roll outta here on Thursday for a few days of rest and relaxation which our team desperately needs 🙂 !! Please continue to pray for our team and continued unity. We are near the end of outreach and we are super tired and getting wore out but The Lord is still moving. 🙂 32 days and I will be back in Texas 🙂 I am beyond excited. Love you all and thank you for praying continually for myself and my team.

Outreach Has Begun!!!

Oh man it’s been a whirlwind of a few a weeks! As the title reads, we have officially started our outreach phase of DTS. Our first stop was San Quintin , here we had the privilege of partnering with a man named Nany. He runs a youth center in the town. At this youth center there is a place for them to place music, do their homework (side note: they also let them print for free at the center because the public school requires them to pay 2-3pesos per copy/print out. Which to us doesn’t sound like much but when you have an average of 5 children that can add up super fast.) also inside the center there is a free gym where those who work in the fields can come and workout after. This is one small town but Nany is defiantly making an impact by providing a place where youth and young adults have a safe place to express themselves. What we did was a group of us painted the walls at the youth center and the other group built a new roof on another center where all the leaders of the futbol coaches meet (or soccer for those Americans) . Below are a few pictures of our sleeping arrangements and pictures of the youth center we painted 🙂 I must say that not all the art work is ours but most.

Next stop was Bahia Tortugas! Ah we have beds 🙂 well… The girls do lol. Here we stayed in the pastors house! Woot ! This place was hard for me to be at , if I can be completely honest with y’all .. I was more than ready to come home after being here for a day. But Jesus did a work … My parents are absolutely amazing and in one day both of them encouraged me, spoke who I was, and called out who I am going to be. In that moment it was as if something clicked on in me like ” oh hey I can do this and it’s going to be great”! Man did this church bless us. They cooked all of our meals everyday on top of us staying in their house. What we did for them does not even compare.. We built an outer wall for a new bathroom for a rehab center as well as work around the church. Our team did a church service during the week and also did A small event in the town plaza :). God is good we were blessed immensely , we were able to try snail, abolony, and lobster! I didn’t like the snail or abolony. But lobster … Surprisingly good 🙂

We are now at stop number 3 Viscaino … Hot showers woohoo. We are staying with a lovely church and we are doing children’s ministry in a lot of the campos around here 🙂 a verse /food for thought : 2 Corinthians 2:15 “for we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing”. This is the scripture that has been stirring in my heart and makes me aware on a constant bases … Do I smell like Jesus? So my question is do you smell like Jesus ? Please pray for health for our team 🙂 and continue to pray for just ministry opportunities. We have had Salvations woot !!!!! 4-5 people plus a group of kids have given their lives to Jesus ! Love you all and miss you much!

Oh SNAP!

Wow it’s been a whirl wind of a couple of weeks. In the past two weeks we have heard about missions and built a house for a family in need. It was for a single mom who had 10 kids and 6 of those 10 live with her. So in 3days time we built from a concrete slab all the way up. If you could have seen how much it meant to the family … IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!

We also went on an intense camping trip for 2.5days of hiking 5 mountains, 20miles worth of medium level terrain with all of our livelihood on our backs. Our packing list included: 1 notebook, 1 Bible, 1 pen, 1 sleeping bag, 1 towel, 1 pair of jeans, 1 swimsuit, 3 undies, 2 shirts, 2 jackets, 3 socks, toothbrush, 1 hat/beanie, 1 pair of shoes, 1 knife, 1 flashlight, 1 bowl, 1 cup, 1 spoon, 1 water bottle, 1 sleeping pad, sunblock. Mind you all of this fit into one Jans sport backpack. Niko means overcome in the Greek. And boy did I have to over come some things! A new level of pride was taken from me which is awesome and God just continues to pour out His love out on me.

The Lord is good in everything!! We found out that as a team all we have left to pay for the lecture phase is $2700 we started with needing 42,000, and all our team has left for Outreach phase is $4,158 we started with needing 18,000. Let’s just stop there … PRAISE GOD !!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for all of your support and prayers they are both continual blessings to me. We will be leaving for outreach in 16 days. Soo excited!! Love you all

Rough, Interesting, Challenging

Wow! This past month has been a whirl wind. From speakers being dead on what has been spoken over me for years to new depths of humility. God is moving in crazy ways and pushing me deeper each week. Oh we finally figured out where we are going for our outreach drum roll ……….. All the way down the Baja ! We will be stopping in a few places on the way down and stopping in a few places on the way back. From what our leaders told us there are a bunch of skaters and surfing in almost every area that we will be in. But we will also be doing a lot of different things besides surfing and skating. Once I know more I will let y’all know! On another note this week we will be doing a house build which most DTS students don’t get the opportunity. I am beyond excited to build! But on the other side I know that it is going to make me miss working with my dad. I think the coolest thing that The Lord showed me last week especially is to not identify myself with my calling but identify myself with Him. He also said He called me His daughter before He called me to be a pastor.

Please continue to pray for my team and finances we exactly one month away till we leave for outreach which sounds so crazy!!! I am excited to see what The Lord is going to do in the next month and also on outreach. Also please pray specifically for the people that we will encounter while we are on outreach.

Okay so come this Thursday I will have been here for 1 month!!! Ahh so crazy and man has The Lord been moving. The two things that I am going to post basically sum up what The Lord has done in the month that I have been here.

One day we were asked to write a psalm or a letter to God so I chose a Psalm … Enjoy

JOY IN THE PROCESS

All the joy, all the honor, all the challenges, all the glory… Belong to you. All the money, all the prayers, all the tears, all the hope, all the support.. Belongs to you! All my thoughts, all my actions, ALL OF ME .. BELONGS TO YOU ABBA!

You are my constant, you are my comforter, you are my processor, you are my loving Father. YOU ARE MY JOY IN THE PROCESS!!

God you are worth the discomfort, you are worth the tears, you are worth being set apart, you are worth living a higher standard.

I choose to find BEAUTY,JOY,EXCITEMENT, HOPE, EXPECTATION, STRETCHING IN THE PROCESS.. I say saturate me Lord … HAVE YOUR WAY, HAVE ALL THE GLORY!

Another day we were asked to pick 6 random lines from our notes and then asked to put it into some weird order only to find out its a type of poem .

1. Going against the grain

2. Sitting in silent worship I was distracted

3. Challenged in my personal life

4. Constantly in check with the Holy Spirit

It is so cool to see what The Lord is doing in me and around me.  Thank you again for all of your prayers and support it means a lot to me and to know that I have a team behind me … Which is awesome !! Love you all and miss you all very much.

Words cannot even begin to express how I am doing here in Mexico.  In such a short time The Lord is moving and challenging me to do things that I have never done before.  He is also continually  just confirming who I am in him and my purpose of being here. This past Saturday we went out surfing or well…. attempting to learn surfing haha needless to say I was not successful at standing up, but had an amazing time trying.

The effects of body boarding

Classes are finally underway … We have been learning about different aspects of Christianity. For example we had a staff member speak on worship and what it meant. Then the coolest thing happend next we were asked to just find a place in the room and worship The Lord how ever we worship. It was so good , I asked The Lord just to come and sit with me and as I sat there he began to show me what purpose my Longboard has in this journey. FREEDOM!!! I’m in awe of what He is doing in me and thru me as well.  I cannot thank y’all enough for all the continued support through prayer !!! My support team rocks!
